What are the 186 Visa Requirements?

There are two types of 186 visa, and the requirements vary accordingly.

 

Direct Entry Stream

 

186 Visa Requirements | Employer

Employer must be:

– Operating in Australia

– In genuine need of engaging the employee directly

– Able to maintain employment for at least 2 years

 

186 Visa Requirements | Position

Position must be:

– A genuine full-time role

– Available for at least 2 years 

– On the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)

– Subject to suitable employment conditions

 

186 Visa Requirements | Salary

The salary must be:

– At least the relevant Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR), and…

– At least $53,900 a year

 

186 Visa Requirements | Employee

The visa applicant must:

– Be under 45 years of age

– Have the required level of English proficiency

– Have the relevant skills

– Meet any relevant professional licensing requirements

– Satisfy the relevant health and character criteria

– Have at least three years full-time experience in the role

 

Temporary Residence Transition Stream

 

186 Visa Requirements | Employer

Employer must be:

– Operating in Australia

– In genuine need of engaging the employee directly

– Able to maintain employment for at least 2 years

 

186 Visa Requirements | Position

Position must be:
